The people of our land practiced the principle of Athithidevo Bhava - treat a guest as God. When the Europeans entered India for trade in the 15th Century, we welcomed them openly. However, they misused the goodness of the Indian people and slowly started exploiting us. The British setup East India company in the 16th century and conquered most of India ruling it for close to 200 years. They brought in their religion, culture and other habits. They ridiculed our country’s civilisation, religion & culture and praised their own. In the process, some of the Indian people also converted themselves and blindly imitated their customs and ideas. India lost its material prosperity
