This land, which was by and large the best in the world for practicing the principles of tolerance, was deliberately and in a planned manner made to feel the division thereby fostering* hatred and animosity. Due to this, towards the end of the 19th century, the situation became really bad. Instead of feeling unity and love, people felt division, conflict and rivalry towards each other. Religious and social movements were brought in for a change but this was the lowest period in the spiritual history of India.
