Each chakra is characterised by some particular power which is released when its awakening is effected. But the rousing up of these powers by forced physical means result mostly in the development of siddhis or powers which are commonly considered to be a sure test of yogic attainment. There are many traditions that subscribe to the view of gaining control of these chakras. It has become now a days almost common to treat this shat chakra sadhana as the very essence of yoga. But that is not the truth. However for purposes of information the following version of the shat chakras is as presented by a fairly well known psychologist – spiritual worker Suzan Carroll duly abridged is furnished here.
Consciousness is the experience of “Be-ing” which represents everything that is possible for us to experience. All of our senses, perceptions, and possible states of awareness can be divided into seven categories that are associated with each of the seven chakras.
